Centre for Health Economics Research at Uppsala University is seeking 1–2 Postdoctoral Researchers in Health Economics

The Centre for Health Economics Research at Uppsala University is an interdisciplinary research centre aiming for efficient resource utilization in healthcare and improved population health. Our research focuses on developing methods to evaluate the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of medical interventions in routine clinical practice, understanding why effectiveness in real-world settings may differ from randomized controlled trials, and developing models for reimbursement and pricing of healthcare and pharmaceuticals to address challenges posed by new medical innovations. The Centre is a collaboration between the Area of Medicine and Pharmacy and the Faculty of Social Sciences, leveraging a multidisciplinary perspective that combines various competencies. Research benefits from shared expertise in experimental and quasi-experimental design, as well as experience in utilizing large register data. The Centre belongs to the Department of Medical Sciences (https://www.uu.se/institution/medicinska-vetenskaper/ (https://www.uu.se/institution/medicinska-vetenskaper/)).

  • Collaborating with other researchers at the Centre and external partners to foster a collaborative and stimulating research environment.

Qualifications

To be eligible for the position as a postdoctoral researcher, you must have:

  • A PhD (or foreign equivalent) in Economics.
  • A degree awarded within the last three years (calculated from the last application date), with possible exceptions for illness, parental leave, or union duties.
  • Documented experience in using micro-data econometric methods to evaluate the effects of interventions and policies in non-experimental contexts, or experience analyzing how economic conditions affect health outcomes.
  • Very good oral and written skills in English.
  • Experience in planning and conducting structured, methodologically sound research, as well as effective communication within and outside academia.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability, such as teamwork skills, result-orientation, responsibility, problem-solving focus, and stress resilience.

Desirable Qualifications

Experience in research on health determinants and health inequalities, particularly in relation to family policy, gender, and labor market behavior, is desirable. Experience in international research collaborations or research stays at leading universities is also valued.
